 Jacquelin Walker Student Leader Award

 

Honoring Exceptional Student Leaders in Lee and Newberry Counties, South Carolina


Tomorrow’s Leaders, LLC is proud to announce the opening of nominations for the Jacquelin Walker Student Leader Award, a prestigious recognition celebrating the life and legacy of Jacquelin Walker, a retired Clinical Counselor and community leader deeply devoted to service, family, and education.

This annual award honors 12th-grade students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, community service, and personal integrity. It recognizes young leaders who go above and beyond to make a positive impact in their schools and communities.

Who Can Apply

The award is open to students attending:

  • Lee Central High School (Lee County, SC)

  • Newberry High School (Newberry County, SC)

 

Students may be nominated by an adult, including mentors, teachers, coaches, neighbors, or family members or may self-nominate.

 

Nominees must:

  • Be rising 12th graders for the 2025–2026 academic year

  • Demonstrate leadership, service, and integrity

  • Submit a verification letter from a public service entity confirming at least 25 hours of community service completed between September 2025 and February 2026

 

How to Apply

Nominations are open now and will close on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:59 PM.

To submit a nomination or self-nomination:

  • Email Tomorrow's Leaders for more information and to request the application form.

  • All completed applications for the 2025–2026 Jacquelin Walker Legacy Scholarship Award must be submitted by the deadline above.

Award Recognition

Recipients of the Jacquelin Walker Student Leader Award will:
🏅 Two students will receive a $1000 monetary scholarship award each
🌟 Be featured on the Tomorrow’s Leaders, LLC website
💬 Be recognized for their dedication to leadership and service within their school and community

Lee County Back to School Bash

Annually, Dr. Tracy and Tomorrow's Leaders host and support Back to School Bash in Lee County, Darlington County and the surrounding areas. These events provide FREE school supplies to all students and introduce students and parents to community resources. Since 2023, Tomorrow's Leaders has support nearly 3000 students. 

Special thanks to our partners and sponsors Martech Research, Wal-Mart, South Carolina First Steps and donations from family and friends of Tomorrow's Leaders. 

I am a Leader Campaign

I am a leader campaign is a program offered to local schools, churches, and organizations. The purpose of this campaign is to decrease youth violence and bullying while developing youth leaders, by meeting students and family's needs and providing them with the tools successfully express themselves. 

 

Participating students have access to trainings related to Self Confidence & Expression, Leadership Skills: What are They, Me & Money, Time Management Life After High School and many others.

Scholarship for HBCU Students

Tomorrow’s Leaders, LLC awarded 6 scholarships to students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) with an interest in joining professional organizations such as the American Women Business Association (ABWA)-Columbia Triad Chapter. 

The scholarship provides an opportunity for students to become a member of a national organization, to gain leadership skills through service on national and local chapter committees, to advance professional development skills through trainings and mentorship.

Scholarships will be awarded annually.

Holidays in Lee County 
Prayer of Remembrance 

The Prayer of Remembrance was one of our main events of Holidays in Lee County, which took place front of the Lee County Courthouse on Saturday, December 10th at 1200pm. This historical event was established to symbolize unity and featured prayers from diverse faith leaders throughout Lee County, representing different denominations. 

 

The event was indeed a success and will be hosted annually.

Unity Tree 

I am your “Unity Tree”! 

The Unity Tree was the first Christmas Tree displayed at the Lee County Courthouse in over 50 years. The Unity Tree represented and symbolized unity in the community. 

The tree was lit on December 10th after the Christmas Parade.

The Gifts & Photos

Dr. Tracy and Tomorrow’s Leaders worked closely with community partners, to plan Holidays in Lee County. The purpose of this historical event was to provide multiple opportunities for the community to participate in holiday activities and received holiday gifts.

Tomorrow’s Leaders, in partnership with Lee County First Steps and Toys for Tots provided gifts and essentials to over 243 Lee County children, exceeding the initial goal of 100 children in 2022.

Due to the great need in Lee County, this will become an annual event.
